DESCRIPTION

Located in the heart of Chianti, this elegant farmhouse was built in the year 1000 and it has been restored in the 1600’s by the Baroni Ricasoli family.

Its historical original structure, details and distinctive charm have been faithfully maintained through the centuries.

Certain rooms of the villa still contain the original pavement in Tuscan “cotto” and there are old wooden beams in the ceilings.

The huge fireplace on  the living room was once used to heat the entire house.

The villa has also a room where vine grapes were dried for making “Vin Santo” and the upper part of the house, where there is currently a lovely twin bedroom, was once an old tower used to guard the Castle, built around 1000 by the Papal State.

The interior of the farmhouse is very spacious.

The villa (650 m2) offers three large living areas; one off the main entrance has a large dining table that can accommodate 14 people.

In this room, there is an old recessed brick oven and an ancient brick warming facility once used to heat water. The living room opens onto a veranda ideal for al fresco meals.

Next to the living room is a large, fully equipped kitchen. From there, one can reach a small gallery of antiques and arts from the Tuscan countryside.

The property has a lovely garden with ample lawn, cypress, pine trees and many varieties of fruit trees, bordered by a small running brook. Few meters below the house there is the swimming pool equipped with deck chairs and lounge chairs.

COMPOSITION

Ground floor: A large dining hall with fireplace  with a big table for 14 people. The dining hall opens onto a veranda ideal for eating al fresco. A large, fully equipped kitchen and TV room.

A sitting room with fireplace on the opposite side of the dining hall, near the entrance, can be used for relaxing, reading, listening to music and accessing the internet.

First floor: Some steps enter a twin bedroom (90 cm mattress) convertible into a double bedroom (on request). A bathroom with bath and shower.

A splendid staircase in “pietra serena” (Sienese Sandstone) leads to the first floor where there is a sitting room with a huge fireplace situated between the bedroom quarters.

Mansard: a double bedroom convertible into a twin bedroom which has access via a steep wooden ladder.It can have access to one of the bathrooms below though an independent door (onto the mezzanine of the other double bedroom).

Amenities: grocery shops, banks, post office, pharmacy and museum in Gaiole, about 1 km away. The bus stop to Giaole is about 100 meters away and it is possible to walk to town (30 minutes)  along a quiet road.

The concierge service is available daily to the client of the villa and can organize and arrange most of their requests, including the following: Car rental, bikes rental, wine tasting, cooking classes, ˝ and full day excursions of the area. The services are payable directly at the villa.
